STRATEGIC HUMAN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF BUSINESS DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
Abstract
The
rapid development of digital technologies has become one of the most influential factors shaping the
contemporary business environment. Organizations across industries are increasingly implementing
digital solutions, automating operational processes, integrating artificial intelligence tools, utilizing
big data analytics, and adopting cloud-based infrastructures. These transformations significantly
affect organizational structures, management approaches, and workforce requirements. In such
circumstances, human capital becomes a strategic asset that determines an organization's ability to
adapt to technological change and sustain long-term competitiveness.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of
strategic human capital management in the context of business digital transformation. Particular
attention is devoted to identifying the key challenges associated with workforce adaptation to digital
environments and determining the strategic priorities that contribute to organizational resilience and
sustainable development.
The study examines the evolving role of human capital in digital organizations and highlights the
growing importance of digital competencies, continuous learning, employee engagement, innovation
culture, and leadership capabilities. Digital transformation requires organizations to rethink
traditional approaches to human resource management and to align workforce development
strategies with broader digital business objectives. As technological innovations continue to reshape
labor markets and organizational processes, companies must invest in the development of employee
skills, knowledge, and adaptive capabilities.
Special emphasis is placed on the strategic integration of talent management, digital learning
systems, HR analytics, and digital leadership practices. The paper discusses the significance of
creating a supportive digital culture that encourages collaboration, creativity, knowledge sharing,
and openness to change. Furthermore, the research highlights the importance of data-driven
decision-making in human resource management and the growing role of digital platforms in
employee development and performance management.
The findings indicate that effective strategic human capital management contributes to higher
organizational productivity, improved innovation performance, stronger employee commitment, and
enhanced competitiveness. The study also demonstrates that enterprises capable of integrating
human capital strategies with digital transformation initiatives achieve greater flexibility and
adaptability in dynamic market conditions.
The research contributes to the development of modern approaches to human capital management
and emphasizes the necessity of viewing employees not merely as resources but as strategic partners
in digital transformation processes. Future research directions include the assessment of digital
competence frameworks, the application of artificial intelligence in human resource management,
and the development of integrated digital ecosystems for workforce development.
