Abstract

. This paper is devoted to the study of the effects that
lead to losses in the communication channel between a ground user and a satellite in an integrated satellitecellular communication system. The communication channel parameters are considered in the scenario of
integrating satellite systems operating in low-Earth orbit (LEO) with fourth-generation cellular networks to
provide coverage for the maximum possible number of users. The paper investigates the effects of smallscale and large-scale fading, Doppler shift and other problems that may arise when designing a multi-level
telecommunication system. The theoretical parameters of the channel budget necessary to ensure stable
communication between the satellite and a conventional mobile station are presented. Among the problems
arising in the design of the system, attention is paid to signal synchronization due to constant relative motion
between satellites in orbit and ground terminals, inter-satellite communication channels requiring increased
computing power of the onboard equipment installed on the satellite, and satellite handover.
