The development of communication systems does not stop, every time the amount of transmitted information increases, that causes the need to construction of more advanced networks, which should be multi-service and fully satisfy all requirements of the user. As a result, more and more opportunities are available with the expansion of networks and advances in new types of coding, one of which is interactive IPTV.
The work aims to investigate the structure of this phenomenon, its advantages and disadvantages. The effect of delays on signal quality in the studied systems is considered and the channel bandwidth is estimated, which is the basis for deciding on the level of perspective and the possibility of introducing IPTV as an alternative substitute for satellite TV.
Key words: IPTV, interactive television, satellite television, IP-network, TV-signal, content, QoS, protocol, bandwidth.
