Abstract

The relevance of studying the impact
of e-commerce on the foreign economic activity of enterprises is driven by profound structural shifts
in the global economy occurring under the influence of digital technologies. The digitalization of
trade processes is transforming traditional mechanisms for entering foreign markets, reshaping
distribution channels, methods of communication with partners, and approaches to building
competitive advantages. Under these conditions, e-commerce is no longer merely an alternative sales
instrument but is becoming a system-forming element of international economic interaction. This
necessitates a deeper theoretical understanding of its role in shaping a new architecture of foreign
economic relations.
Particular attention should be paid to the issue of aligning processes taking place at the level of
individual enterprises with broader macroeconomic trends in territorial development. The expansion
of digital platforms affects the cost and revenue structures of business entities, alters the nature of
competition, and opens new opportunities for integration into global markets. At the same time, new
challenges are emerging at the level of states and regions, related to the need to develop digital
infrastructure, improve regulatory frameworks, and ensure an appropriate institutional environment.
Thus, e-commerce acts as a factor that simultaneously generates microeconomic incentives and
macroeconomic consequences.
The article focuses on the economic essence of e-commerce in the context of international trade, the
transformation of foreign economic activity models under the influence of digitalization, and the
interconnection between enterprise performance and the development of territorial economic
systems. Special emphasis is placed on the role of digital infrastructure and public policy as
determinants of the scale and quality of integration into the global digital environment. The issue of
generating a systemic effect from the use of electronic sales channels and digital platforms is
examined, along with the potential risks accompanying these processes.
The generalization of these aspects makes it possible to consider e-commerce not only as a
technological phenomenon but as a multidimensional economic phenomenon that influences the
dynamics of foreign trade, enterprise competitiveness, and the strategic orientations of territorial
development. The growing role of digital tools in international economic interaction underscores the
need for a comprehensive approach to studying their impact and for developing scientifically
grounded foundations for the further advancement of foreign economic activity under conditions of
digital transformation.
