The development of modern trade is characterized by rapid technological transformation,
increasing globalization of markets, and growing competition among enterprises. In this context,
effective supply chain management and inventory control have become essential components of
strategic management in trading companies, directly influencing operational performance, financial
results, and overall competitiveness. Efficient coordination and information exchange between all
participants in the supply chain — including suppliers, manufacturers, logistics providers, retailers,
and consumers — enable enterprises to streamline operations, reduce logistics and storage costs,
enhance resource utilization, and maintain consistent product availability.
Supply chains represent complex, integrated systems where delays or inefficiencies in one element
can lead to significant disruptions, including stock shortages, excess inventory, and increased
operational expenses. Therefore, understanding the structure, functions, and interrelationships of
supply chain participants is critical for effective management and optimization of trade operations. Inventory management is highlighted as a key component of logistics systems, as it directly affects
the balance between meeting customer demand and minimizing holding costs. The study examines
contemporary inventory optimization methods, including Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), ABC
analysis, and inventory control systems, as well as practical tools for logistics analysis that allow for
precise demand forecasting, adaptive replenishment strategies, and improved decision-making.
The relevance of this research is underscored by the increasing importance of logistics efficiency
and digital transformation in trading enterprises. The integration of information systems and digital
technologies facilitates real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and automated planning,
significantly enhancing supply chain coordination, responsiveness to market changes, and overall
operational agility. This article addresses both theoretical and practical aspects of supply chain
management in modern trade, emphasizing the necessity of combining traditional logistical methods
with innovative technological solutions. It provides a comprehensive framework for optimizing supply
chains and inventory management, contributing to cost reduction, improved turnover of goods, and
enhanced customer satisfaction. The study also identifies areas for further research, particularly in
applying artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and cloud-based platforms to increase the
efficiency and adaptability of trade logistics in dynamic market conditions.
