This study is devoted to the study of
mechanisms for adapting Ukrainian agricultural lands to modern natural challenges, including
climate change and soil degradation caused by ongoing military actions caused by the Russian
invasion of Ukraine, as well as theoretical, methodological and applied aspects of forming a
sustainable mechanism for adapting Ukrainian agricultural lands to modern socio-economic,
environmental and institutional challenges. In the course of this study, a system of economic
instruments was substantiated that can increase the sustainability of land use and ensure the longterm productivity of agricultural lands without excessive destructive impact on them, as well as
taking into account the current disposition of the ecological safety of the agricultural sector of
Ukraine. The scientific work considers the economic prerequisites and factors for adapting
agricultural lands, analyzes the features of their functioning in modern economic conditions, and
identifies key areas for increasing the efficiency of land resource use. It is substantiated that the
adaptation mechanism should be based on a comprehensive combination of economic,
organizational and institutional instruments of land management. Particular attention is paid to
improving economic incentives for rational land use, introducing innovative agricultural
technologies, developing a land condition monitoring system and increasing the level of investment
attractiveness of the agricultural sector. It is determined that effective adaptation of agricultural
lands will contribute to increasing land use productivity, strengthening the food security of the state
and ensuring sustainable development of the agrarian economy of Ukraine. The implementation of
the proposed approaches will contribute to increasing the efficiency of agricultural land use,
restoring soil fertility, strengthening the food security of the state and ensuring sustainable
development of the agricultural sector of the economy of Ukraine.
